Everybody knows that the engine is the heart of your vehicle. Despite our best efforts to follow a proper maintenance schedule and take care of your engine, units with a large number of operating hours or mileage are more prone to experiencing component failures. Just regular wear and tear alone can bring about performance issues in even the most well cared for engines. For many, just going out and buying a brand new engine isn’t necessary or even desirable. Instead, Big Rig Power’s licenced heavy-duty technicians can help you determine if your engine could benefit from an In-Frame or Out-of-Frame rebuild. Once the type of engine rebuild is determined, our technicians will get your engine back to specifications at an affordable price and in a reasonable amount of time.
IN-FRAME VERSUS OUT-OF-FRAME
So what is the difference between these two types of rebuilds? An In-Frame is intended mostly for engines in excess of 20,000 hours with the engine still mounted. As such, an In-Frame is less expensive and quicker to perform. In an Out-of-Frame, the engine is removed, completely disassembled, and rebuilt usually due to engine crank or block damage. However, at the end of the day what needs to be done depends entirely on the situation and the results of an in-depth inspection. Check out the sections below for more information on what’s generally included.
